Direct support for people living with medically documented late-stage 3 or stage 4 Multiple Chemical Sensitivity

The MCS Survival Foundation primarily provides direct support to people living with medically documented late-stage 3 or stage 4 Multiple Chemical Sensitivity who are struggling to meet basic human needs.

Requests may include safer shelter, food, clean water, protective equipment, necessary transportation, emergency assistance, medical-access support, or other essential needs related to severe Multiple Chemical Sensitivity.

Do You Need Help Obtaining a Diagnosis or Determining Your Current Stage?

If you believe you may have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity but have not yet received a formal medical diagnosis—or you have been diagnosed but do not know the current severity or stage of your condition—we may be able to provide information and help connect you with qualified medical professionals or diagnostic resources.

The foundation does not diagnose medical conditions or independently determine an applicant’s stage. Any diagnosis, severity assessment, or stage determination must be made by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

People with earlier-stage or suspected MCS may still access our educational information, awareness resources, community support, and guidance toward appropriate medical evaluation. Direct material or financial assistance is primarily reserved for medically documented late-stage 3 and stage 4 applicants with serious unmet needs.

How Requests Are Reviewed

Requests for direct assistance are reviewed by a five-member Assistance Review Committee made up of people who live with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and understand the realities and limitations caused by the condition.

No single individual makes the final decision. Committee members may consider:

• Medical documentation supplied by the applicant

• The applicant’s current condition and functional limitations

• The seriousness and urgency of the need

• The specific assistance being requested

• Relevant health and safety requirements

• Whether other assistance is already available

• The foundation’s available funding and resources

• The foundation’s ability to provide assistance safely and responsibly

Any actual or potential conflict of interest must be disclosed. A committee member with a personal, financial, family, or other conflict involving an applicant will not participate in reviewing or voting on that request.

Committee members do not provide medical diagnoses or replace the advice of licensed healthcare professionals.

In your first email, please include:

• Your full name

• Your country and state, province, or region

• The safest way and best time to contact you

• Whether you have been medically diagnosed with MCS

• Your documented or suspected current stage, if known

• A brief description of your symptoms and functional limitations

• A brief description of your current living situation

• The specific assistance you are requesting

• Why the assistance is needed and whether it is urgent

• Any fragrance, chemical, material, transportation, communication, or accessibility restrictions the foundation should understand

• Whether another organization, government agency, insurer, healthcare provider, friend, or family member is currently helping with this need

If you are not medically diagnosed or do not know your current stage, explain the difficulties you are experiencing and any barriers preventing you from obtaining a proper medical evaluation. We may be able to help identify information, diagnostic resources, or qualified healthcare professionals who can evaluate your condition.

Protecting Your Information

Please do not send your Social Security number, national identification number, banking information, passwords, full identification documents, complete medical history, or complete medical records in your first email.

Please send only the minimum information necessary for us to understand your request. If additional documentation is needed, the foundation will explain what specific information is required and how it should be submitted.

Information submitted with an assistance request will be used to evaluate and administer that request. It may be shared with Assistance Review Committee members and authorized foundation personnel who need the information for those purposes.

Although the foundation will take reasonable steps to protect information, ordinary email may not be completely secure. Applicants should avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information by email.

By voluntarily submitting information, you confirm that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that the foundation may use it to evaluate and administer your request, as further explained in our Privacy Policy.

Important Conditions

Submitting a request does not guarantee approval, funding, reimbursement, medical care, housing, transportation, or any other assistance.

Assistance depends on eligibility, documented need, urgency, available resources, committee approval, legal and practical limitations, and the foundation’s ability to provide assistance safely and responsibly.

The foundation may request reasonable supporting documentation, such as a diagnosis letter, a brief statement from a healthcare professional, estimates, invoices, receipts, photographs, or proof of the need being presented. Applicants should not submit additional sensitive documents unless requested.

The foundation may decline a request, approve only part of a request, place a request on hold, refer the applicant to another resource, or ask for additional information.

The MCS Survival Foundation does not provide emergency medical treatment, medical diagnosis, legal advice, or guaranteed crisis services. Anyone experiencing an immediate medical emergency should contact the appropriate emergency service in their location, when they can do so safely.
